There is a regular bus service from Trans-Hawaiian along the Kaapapali .. Lahaina .. Kihei .. Kahului routes, if you really plan to just go from the airport to a resort, stay there, walk around a bit, and return. http://www.transhawaiian.com

A residential community of private homes rather than a hotel or condominium, Puamana is a well planned and nicely-executed resort village.
